Arkell Center plans August activities
CANAJOHARIE — The following are the Arkell Center programs for all area seniors for August.
Each Monday through Friday: At 11:45 a.m. the Office for the Aging Meals of Montgomery Program serves hot meals, $3 donation for ages 60 and older. Call (518) 673-2000 for reservations.
Each Monday, Wednesday and Friday: From 10 to 10:30 a.m. is senior exercise program in the basement. Coffee after.
∫ From 9 to 10 a.m. core strength and stability class in basement with Sharon Charles, instructor. Donation: $5.
∫ From 10 to 11 a.m. beginner Tai Chi; from 11:10 to 12:10 intermediate Tai Chi, both sponsored by MCOFA, with Earl O’Bryon, instructor. Donations accepted.
∫ From 2 to 2:25 p.m. is chair yoga in the gallery.
∫ From 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. is gentle yoga with Patty Pietrowicz, instructor, in the basement. $5 donation.
Each Friday: From 9 to 10 a.m. vinyasa flow yoga in the gallery. $10 fee.
Aug. 8, 15, 22, and 29: From 12:30 to 4 p.m. senior citizens pinochle card party. Donation $2, prizes and refreshments. If anyone wants to sub, call (518) 673-5635.
Aug. 9, 16, 23, and 30: From 10:15 to 11 a.m. the Diet Club meets in the gallery. Call (518) 673-2112.
∫ From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. defensive driving with the Shults Agency. Next class is Sept. 11.
∫ From 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. is the blood pressure clinic in the gallery by Home Health Care Partner’s Corp. (co-sponsored by St. Mary’s and Nathan Littauer hospitals).
Friday: At 1 p.m. Canajoharie Senior Citizens Club meeting; at 1:30 p.m. bingo followed by an ice cream social. Bring a friend.
Aug. 14: At 6 p.m. Canajoharie-Palatine Bridge Chamber of Commerce meeting.
Aug. 15: From 6 to 8 p.m. knit-crochet with Carol Balfe. Bring a friend.
Aug. 23: At 1:30 p.m. water color with Shanna Becker. Bring a friend; $10 each.
Aug. 24: At 1 p.m. Canajoharie Senior Citizens Club meeting; at 1:30 p.m. Medicare 101 with a representative. Medicare made easier. All are welcome.
Aug. 28: From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. “Alzheimers Behaviors” program and Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group meeting. Open to the public.
