Old Sturbridge Village trip planned for Broadalbin Senior Citizen group
BROADALBIN — The Broadalbin Senior Citizens met on March 21, at the First Presbyterian Church in Broadalbin with 65 members including six new members — Joan Burden, Anne and Dennis Haggerty, Tony and Nancy Basile and Marilyn Muzzi were welcomed into the club.
The prayer was offered by Mary Peck with June Zea leading in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was called to order by President Toni Hallenbeck. Zea did the roll call. Nancy Weiss gave the secretary’s report and Jennifer Gilston gave the treasure’s report.
Peck, chaplain, reported that she sent out a sympathy card. Ruth Lee, birthday chairwoman, announced March birthdays. “Happy Birthday” was sung by members.
Phyllis Kluska, summer picnic chairwoman, suggested that the seniors have Music for Life perform at the picnic on July 25, again this year. Carol Brittain, Christmas party chairwoman, asked for volunteers to help with the Christmas party.
A pot of gold raffle was won by Nancy Krawczeski. The 50-50 was won by Peggy Szyjkowski.
Hallenbeck asked members to save the dates for the Broadalbin Perth Senior Citizen Prom on April 20, and the Office for the Aging picnic on Aug. 2.
The nominating committee announced that Evelyn Brown has agreed to be secretary and Marsha Prokop will be the new chaplain. The inaugural luncheon will be held the first Wednesday in May. The donations were collected for the Broadalbin Ecumenical Church Food Pantry. The next meeting will be on April 4, at the First Presbyterian Churchm Broadalbin.
The trip committee has announced the following trips.
April 26: To the Old Sturbridge Village followed by dinner at the Publick House. Will leave the information booth at 8 a.m. and return around 8 p.m. Cost: $65.
May 3: The Adirondack Culinary College will be cooking lunch with a three course meal consisting of an appetizer, entree and dessert. Cost: $25 is due by April 18.
May 10: To Washington Park followed by lunch at the Albany Pump House. Cost: $40 and is due by April 18.
