Senior group plans duo of luncheons

LASSELLSVILLE — The Oct. 9, meeting of the Western Fulton County Seniors was called to order by President Angela Hill, with the Pledge of Allegiance and recitation of “The Lord’s Prayer.” The reports of the secretary and treasurer were read and passed with all in favor.

Another successful trip was Sept. 27, to Lake George, Warren County, for a fall foliage luncheon boat ride. On Oct, 31, the group is invited to the Stratford Seniors for their Halloween luncheon. Let Angela Hill know if expecting to attend. On Nov. 10, we will host an annual luncheon for the Oppenheim and Stratford Seniors at our Lassellsville facility.

The Christmas luncheon will be held together with the Mayfield Bannertown Seniors on Dec. 14, at Harold’s Restaurant, Gloversville, with a choice of prime rib, stuffed chicken breast, or fried haddock dinners. Bring a grab bag gift. Call Angela Hill if expected to attend.

The tickets were distributed for the McDonald’s raffle fundraising effort. If anyone wants additional books, contact Rose Nemecek at (518) 673-4109. The monies should be in by Dec. 1.

A lively auction of grab bag gifts was held, with the income to be applied to the Christmas dinner.

The volunteer helpers were John and Karla Hoyt, Pat Buchanan, Barb Kravec and Angela Hill, who refinished the porch, ramp and doors, and inside entry room; Tom Hogan and Mark Hill repaired the sidewalk problem;. Debbie Hall shampooed the facility carpet, and Angela Hill and Barb Carpenter decorated for the fall season.

A letter of thanks was sent to the town of Caroga for the use of the Glenn H. Memorial Pavilion for the group’s successful Sept. 13, picnic.

The winner of the 50-50 raffle was Gen Prime. The winners of the orchid plants and fall arrangement were Kravec, Jane Lasher, and a new member.

The next regular meeting will be held Nov. 13. Anyone interested in attending the regular second Monday of each month noon potluck lunch and meeting is welcome at the Lassellsville Center, 5740 Route 29W. Come early to play cards or just visit. For information on the club and its activities, call Angela Hill at (518) 993-5357.
