Glen-Mohawk senior group plan movie day

FONDA — The regular meeting of the Glen-Mohawk Seniors of Oct. 10, was brought to order by President Beverly Guiffre, followed by the morning prayer given by Allan Taylor, the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” with Barbara Furman at the piano.

The Fonda-Fultonville Central School Superintendent Thomas Ciaccio, discussed a veterans celebration on Nov. 9, and invited veterans to come — he gave the group a list of events from last year and the year to come. He talked about Fonda-Fultonville Community Foundation which raises money to help the community and discussed a few events being planned for the senior population.

The roll call was taken by Vice President Alan Buck which showed 28 members present. The secretary’s report was read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read by Olive Taylor which will be filed for audit.

Betsy Saltsman, corresponding secretary, said the senior movie day will start at Johntown theater at 1 p.m. Oct. 26. The cost is $5 and the admission includes popcorn and a drink.

The signup has ended for the installation banquet on Tuesday at the Raindancer restaurant. Menu choices: Stuffed chicken breast, hot roast beef sandwich or seafood casserole. Cost: $10 to each active member.

Buck read the vice president’s report for the past year and gave a breakdown of what exactly is done for the group’s table setup each week

Joe Mancini had a couple funny readings.

The 50-25-25 was won by Mancini and Margaret Post.

The meeting adjourned. The meeting was brought to a close with an ending prayer given by Allan Taylor.
