GLOVERSVILLE — A Stillwater woman is accused of stabbing a Gloversville woman in the throat last week, authorities said.

Amanda Simulescu, 38, of Stillwater was arrested last Monday for an alleged attack with a kitchen knife on a 48-year-old that city police spokesman Bradley Schaffer described as "a domestic violence related offense."

Simulescu pleaded not guilty to second-degree assault, first-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, during the arraignment hearing last Monday, according to court documents.

Simulescu bail was set at $100,000, records show.

Simulescu is accused of unlawfully entering an apartment on Prospect Place in Gloversville around 12:20 p.m. March 11 and allegedly stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife during an altercation, according to the allegations filed in court.

The victim’s injury was life threatening, Schaffer said in an email. He said the case remains under investigation, and for that reason he could not comment on the victim’s condition.

Simulescu is scheduled to next appear in court on Wednesday.
