CONCERT: FLOYDIAN TRIP

GLOVERSVILLE – The Pink Floyd tribute group, Floydian Trip will perform a concert at 7 p.m. on May 18 at the Glove Theatre 42 N. Main St. as part of The Glove’s new “518Concert Series.” Tickets are available athttps://www.ticketstripe.com/floydiantrip

MEMORIAL DAY EVENTS

GLOVERSVILLE -- The annual Gloversville Memorial Day parade and services will be held on May 27. The parade route will start at Sixth Avenue and North Main Street, head east on Sixth Avenue to Kingsboro Avenue, then south on Kingsboro Avenue to Fulton Street then west on Fulton Street to the main entrance to Prospect Hill Cemetery. Street closures will be completed by 8:30 a.m., units are asked to be lined up by 9 a.m. for kickoff at 9:30 a.m. A memorial service and the placement of wreaths will take place at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Prospect Hill Cemetery at the parade end. MVC PERFORM IMPOSSIBLE DREAM     

 JOHNSTOWN -- Mohawk Valley Chorus will present "The Impossible Dream,” with music from “Man of La Mancha” at 7 p.m. on May 18 at Johnstown High School, 1 Sir Bills Circle. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for senior citizens and students, children 12 and under are free. There will be a special performance from the Electric City Chorus. LOVE/SICK PERFORMANCES

JOHNSTOWN -- Foothills Arts Council, Inc. willpresent a staged reading of the comedy Love/Sick by John Cariani at b and at 2 p.m. on May 19 at SUNY FMCC in the RAO Theater, 2805 State Hwy 67. Admission is $10.

 

SPRING CLEAN-UP DAY

MAYFIELD -- The Mayfield Historical Society will hold a spring clean-up day from 9 a.m. to noon on May 18 at The Rice Homestead, 328 Riceville Rd. Members and the public are being sought to help with clean-up.Volunteers should bring gloves, rakes, and cleaning items for both inside and outside the homestead. GARDEN CLUB PLANT SALE

NORTHVILLE – The Sacandaga Garden Club will have its annual plant sale starting at 9 a.m. until sold out on June 1 at Northville Waterfront Park, 412 S Main St.

TOWN DROP-OFF CLEAN UP

JOHNSTOWN -- The Town of Johnstown and the Fulton County Department of Solid Waste (DSW) will co-sponsor a municipal drop-off clean-up program from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 17 and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 18 at the Prindle Avenue Barn, behind the Senior Citizens' Center. Town residents may dispose of old furniture, appliances, garage and attic cleanup projects, and do-it-yourself home improvement project materials. Electronics will be accepted for recycling. A maximum of four tires off the rim per person per day will be accepted. Not for commercial haulers, businesses or institutions. No vehicle batteries, paint, motor oil, curbside recyclables or regular weekly trash will be accepted. Electronics will also be accepted for recycling. HYDRANT FLUSHING UNTIL MAY 23

GLOVERSVILLE -- Hydrant flushing will take place between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday night starting May 12 until May 23 starting on the North end of Gloversville. Signs will be posted on the streets being flushed. A list of the streets being done each night will be posted on the Gloversville Water Works Facebook page and at  www.gloversvillewater.com. Residents may experience some discoloration, but this is not harmful and running cold water should clear discoloration.

 

GOLF TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT ACS

JOHNSTOWN — The Total Tech Solutions golf tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society will be held on July 20 at Fox Run Golf Club, 129 Fox Run Drive. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a 4-person team scramble start at 9 a.m. The cost is $125 per player and includes golf, cart, breakfast and lunch. Register before June 1 to save $10 per player. INPUT SOUGHT FOR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

JOHNSTOWN – The Town of Johnstown seeks input from residents on the Comprehensive Plan and make recommendations to the EnVision Town of Johnstown Initiative. The Town has set up a questionnaire for residents to submit feedback by May 24. Feedback will be beneficial for grant application, and if awarded, will be used to update the plan. STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL AND TRUNK SALE

MAYFIELD -- The Mayfield Historical Society will hold its 41st annual Strawberry Festival from noon to 4 p.m. on June 15 at the Rice Homestead, 328 Riceville Road. Treasures in the Trunk Sale fundraiser in the field of the Rice Homestead will take place at the same time with set-up from 10-11 a.m. Sell your treasures from the trunk of your vehicle or own tables. The pre-registration cost is $10 per vehicle parking spot (12’ x 12’) or $15 for the day. Vendors may purchase more than one spot. The event will feature live music, strawberry shortcake and tours of the Rice Homestead. Free admission and open to the public. CAROGA MUSEUM SEEKS ARTISANS

CAROGA LAKE — The Caroga Historical Association and Museum seeks artisans, vendors, and crafters for its annual craft fair to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 13 at the Caroga Museum, 145 London Bridge Road. A registration fee of $30 is required for a 10X10 space or $50 for a 10X20 space. There is no charge for admission to the museum or the festivities. SQUARE AND ROUND DANCING OFFERED

GLOVERSVILLE -- Western Square and Round Dancing will be offered from 6:30-9 p.m. on May 16,23 and June 6 at 31 Spring St. The cost is $10 per person. Learn as you dance.
